Right now, this moment, you can do whatever you want. Well, within reason. You on the other hand, are utterly powerless, to impact the past or even the future (directly). The only way you can impact the future, or even create it, is by maximising your impact on the present moment.
Use Reflections Of The Past & Future Aspirations, To Empower You To Be Your Best Self Right Now.
There is only but so much focusing on the past or the future can do for you. However, whatever you gain from focusing on the past or the future only matters to the extent that you implement those insights in the present moment.
One of the things we can all relate to, is how easy it is to lose good intentions to naught, when we put off their execution, to the future. Most of the time, when we delay doing something in the present moment, execution never happens. Eventually, experience teaches us that wisdom and living our best lives is all about making the most of now.
Whatever autonomy, freedom and ability to impact that we possess, is most potent right now in the present moment. Two of the best questions we can ask ourselves at any given moment is: what do I most want to do right now and what is the most important thing for me to do right now?
Somewhere in between the answers of these two questions, is precisely what we should be doing. It is very easy to waste time focusing on the past and the future. However, a key insight for us all to be aware of, is that focusing on the past and the future should only be done to gain clarity on what we should be doing right now. The past and the future are places where we can lose excessive amounts of time overthinking, whenever we move the present, out of the equation.
The Present Moment, As Our Greatest Gift.
Realising and remembering the importance of the present is a great gift. As the present is where our ability to choose, is able to be executed in real time. Focusing on what we can do right now, with the gift of the present, is empowering. Focusing excessively, on past mistakes is painful and burdensome. Focusing excessively on lofty goals that we have, can also be burdensome and cause us to pile the pressure onto ourselves.
Conversely, focusing on what we can do in the present moment to achieve progress, puts us in touch with our power to impact our world and maybe even the world in general. It is liberating. This, is where we need to be. This, is where we need to live.
Under this lens, is the perfect position for us to spend our time focusing on our muse of what our life mission and purpose is. From here, we are able to be original, authentic and create from a place where the competition is none.
When we are locked in to the current moment, we are able to move in time with, what is in our best interests. At any given moment, we have several goals that we want to achieve. Whilst focusing on one thing at a time is probably ideal. The reality is, that our needs as human beings are complex. Which means some juggling, is necessary. Thankfully, a combination of your subconscious and learning from trial and error. Eventually enables us to learn how to switch in between achieving various goals. As we perfect our ability to capitalise on the current moment.
The empowering aspect of all of this is, we get to save ourselves. We get to reflect on the past, whilst we create our visions of our ideal futures. Which we then use to guide ourselves on how we should be spending our time in the current moment.
This is entirely about how we use our power as human beings to live the lives that we want to live. There is no delegating. No worrying about other people or factors.
Instead, it just us, our perspectives, judgement and what we want to do with the current moment. No overthinking. No overtalking. Just efficiency and us. What better place to be?
