Your Muse, Have You Been Blessed To Meet Them Yet?

People painting together as though painting their muse.

Always Remember, There Is More Than One Type Of Muse.

The word muse is mostly used to refer to a love interest, in songs. However, Webster’s definition alludes to something that engages us so profoundly that we lose ourselves in it. Moreover, there are many different forms of love and interests. When it comes to love interests, we’re dependent on the other person, (eventually) feeling the same way we do. Some of this love stuff, specifically, it being reciprocated, is out of our control.

Thankfully though, as just mentioned, there are many different types of love and interests. The question in the title of this article, refers to, your life’s purpose. In this sense, your muse, is the ideal life, vision and legacy that you want to create for yourself. It’s about more than who you are now. It is about who you ideally want to be.

It’s All About Your Why.

Some relevant questions to help you outline what your muse, or ideal life looks like is. What are your passions, what do you find so interesting that, you think it would keep you engaged for a life time? Which things is humanity failing at so dramatically, that you also care enough about, to devote your life to changing it? What, is, worth, your time and devotion? Is it the environment, is it giving back? Which institutions have missions that resonate deeply with you?

What skillsets are you so taken aback by, that you’d be willing to devote your life to perfecting them. What do you like to consume and which of those things would you be interested in creating yourself? Whenever we are doing something new, or surveying new territory, one of the best things we can do is construct a brainstorm of ideas.

As mentioned before, it is unnecessary and maybe even boring, if we have all the right answers. However, as a bare minimum, we all need to at least be on our way towards finding the right answers. With that being said, the best starting point for finding the right answers, is asking the right questions.

A blank piece of paper, with a great question like: what are the different purposes, I’d like to devote my life too, (encircled in the middle)? From here, the goal is to then right down as many high quality answers as possible. Once this has been completed. That is, you feel like you’ve written down all the possible answers. You should find you’ve got an outline of your muse.

The Amusing, Should Help You Discover Your Muse.

Life is for living. The best way us human beings learn, is from experience. The more we engage with life, is the more we become educated on how we would be best served spending our lives. Consume content, watch documentaries, use YouTube, read books, articles, join different communities. Chances are we will just know when we’ve found something that clicks.

Arguably love at first sight does exist. Part of the reason this is still even a debate is because we define love as just being romantic. Recently, Cam Newton had love at first sight be a topic of discussion on his podcast. Cam, confessed that he believed lust at first sight happens. However, what would be interesting to find out is, whether Cam fell in love American Football at first sight? Whether the answer is yes or no, we can almost be certain that Cam would be more open to the concept of love at first, within the context of American Football.

Life is like an exam. We all are best served by ignoring the opinions of others and focusing on writing down (read: living out our answers to) what living our best life, consists of. That is where our focus should be and if we keep it there long enough. We will find ourselves living our best lives.
